If you’ve been around electronics for any amount of time, you’re certainly familiar with 7-segment displays, which use a series of LEDs or LCD sections to display characters in a distinct linear form. While great for revealing simple information, they lack color, and implementing more and more digits can complicate things dramatically.

After being frustrated with typical displays, Maker Maks Surguy decided to do something about it. His resulting system — now available on Crowd Supply — uses a series of programmable WS2812B RGB LEDs to show digits via a single 3-pin connector.

Importantly, the aptly named Neosegment Digit is modular, so you can connect more and more numbers, which come in 2-digit modules, without needing to connect more wires. But that’s not all. The platform is compatible with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP8266, ESP32, and any other chipset that suppports WS2812Bs.

Looking for a next-generation 7-segment display? Maks’ Neosegment Digit may be the solution. Back it on Crowd Supply today!
