Bingo is a great game for large groups because the rules are very simple and a virtually unlimited number of people can play simultaneously. The most important aspect of the game, of course, is to keep track of the numbers that have been drawn. At small venues, the game coordinators usually just write those down and the players are responsible for correctly marking the numbers they have. But for big groups, some sort of indicator can be really helpful, which is why Imgurian Visinedrops78 built this completely custom Bingo board.

Visinedrops78’s Bingo board design is actually two pieces: a control board that has buttons for every number, and a display board that has all the numbers for players to see that light up when the corresponding button has been pressed. A total of 75 individual numbers can been drawn, and so this board has both 75 buttons and 75 LED-lit number indicators. All of those buttons and LEDs were hand-wired and soldered together after being mounted.

Because there are so many buttons and LEDs to monitor and control, Visinedrops78 decided to use two Arduino Mega boards to control the Bingo board. Those have far more GPIO pins than other Arduinos, which is helpful for a project like this. The display board was built by simply hand-painting the numbers on clear plastic, with walls between each LED to keep light from bleeding over. Visinedrops78 reports that the Bingo board didn’t work as well as hoped, because the numbers were still too small for everyone to see. But, it’s still a great build.
