Back in July, Microsoft Azure teamed up with Hackster to launch a first-of-its-kind competition using the Azure IoT Suite. It called upon all hardware developers to tap the all powerful Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and create enterprise-grade projects using any hardware, service or software.
The projects needed to solve real-world problems in one of several industries: manufacturing, transportation, cities, energy and buildings.
Fast forward a couple of months and 400-plus participants later, we have our winners! Top solutions in each category receive $500, while the “best in show” champion walks away with a Microsoft HoloLens!
Best in Show: Azure Stream Analytics Saving LivesAzure Stream Analytics watches sensors, controls devices autonomously, sends tweets and alerts in case of a hazard. All controllable by smartphone.
Modernizing legacy IIoT devices using edge of network devices to send data to the Azure IoT Hub and machine learning.
Drive temperature data to Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and monitor the data remotely from a Windows Universal application. Digitally remastered!
Posture cognition device using Azure Machine Learning and Kinect Sensors. Visualization in WebVR.
Get Me There uses IoT, data analytics, machine learning, mobile app with cloud computing to help bus passengers get accurate estimates of arrival times and current number of available seats in each specific bus.
Who likes traffic? NO ONE! Time to do something about it! Bidirectional communication with every intersection and Azure A.I. FTW!
Be sure to check out all the other awesome submissions here!
