Advanced home automation is beginning to take shape in several forms, but it generally focuses around a central hub of some sort. The Aucasi Socket, now in development as a Kickstarter project, does things somewhat differently.

Though it can be controlled via Wi-Fi, it also has an array of electronics onboard, including a motion and current sensor, allowing it to react to a room’s conditions, and monitor how much power is being used by the light or other appliance connected to it.

Rules can be set up as desired, and in addition to Wi-Fi connectivity, it has an infrared emitter, enabling it to control a television or other device that uses this technology.

Unfortunately for some Hackster readers, this will only be available to ship to the EU, and is designed to work with European-style plugs.
