Though perhaps the number of individual lights in a desk isn’t a statistic that’s generally bragged about, if it was, then Imgur user nolobot’s project would have to be near the top of the heap.
Using 1,200 WS2812 RGB LED units — which is actually 3,600 individual LEDs if each color diode is broken out — this desk is able to create amazing animations using an Arduino Mega with the FastLED library.
The desk itself is also very well-built and thought out, using aluminum extrusion for the frame and plywood to support the LEDs. On top of the LEDs, a layer of white polycarbonate is supported by an array of spacers, making an excellent light diffuser and desktop.
