The build-up to a futuristic scenario of self-driving cars has been one of the more popular t0pics in the industry for several years now. While we becoming increasingly close to seeing autonomous vehicles on the road, what about those that are controlled by… your thoughts? A group of hackers during a recent CalHacks hackathon did just that.
The team managed to develop a prototypethat commands a Tesla Model S using brain activity. The project, aptly named “Teslapathic, consists of three parts: machine learning with OpenBCI a digital to analog interface through Arduino, and a hardware control system.
The EEG headset determines whether the user is thinking “stop” or “go,” which is translated into an analog signal, then transmitted by an RC radio, and articulated by linear actuators on the pedals and a windshield wiper motor on the steering wheel.
