Alexandre Pailhoux describes himself as passionate about education and electronics engineering, and as such is a fan of Arduino boards. As anyone that’s worked with boards such as the Uno and Mega can testify to, while an excellent learning tool, if you need to prototype anything, you normally need to run jumpers to a breadboard. Additionally, there are a few elements that are needed on many projects, such as a real-time clock (RTC) module, OLED display, or an SD card slot.

In order to address these needs, Pailhoux has come up with the DevDuino Arduino-compatible board, now available on Kickstarter. It features a 128x64 OLED display, along with a variety of LED indicators, RTC module, a slot for a micro SD card, and many other convenient features. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of this device, however, is its U-shaped body. Not only does it conveniently fit on top of a breadboard, but the space inside of the U can be used to accommodate mezzanine shields connected from the bottom.

It’s an interesting concept, and will be a great way to introduce people to more advanced programming concepts without having to purchase a variety of accessories separately. Plus, something like this would make a great tool for electronics professionals who want an easy way to prototype designs in order to transfer them to a more streamlined design later.
