Those of you that still have non-blinky coffee tables, like those available in the last century, should check out this awesome interactive piece of furniture from Akshay Baweja. As seen in the project’s video, Dot² is able to display a wide range of colors and patterns via PC software called GLEDIATOR.

Like many LED displays, Dot² uses a pattern of foam board baffles in order to keep each light in a tight square, shining up through “milky white” acrylic for a nice diffuse effect.

In addition to what’s shown in the video, Dot² can even play old school video games via a Bluetooth smartphone app developed using MIT’s App Inventor package. Tabletop Tetris, anyone?

Also of note in his project is the neat bamboo-ish effect on the side. Check it out below!
