CRT TVs have largely gone the way of the dinosaur, and as they die or are replaced, you may discover an interesting model being discarded. Hacker Finn Anderson found just that, a beautiful orangish-red TV labeled “international.”

Rather than letting it rot, he grabbed it and replaced the tube inside with a modern 12-inch screen, along with a Raspberry Pi 3 running RetroPie. This allows him to now play classic N64 and PS1 games, including childhood favorites like Mario Kart and Crash Bandicoot.

In order to make it look more authentic, he heated up a piece of acrylic then used the old tube to mold it into a copy of the original glass.

To complete his build, he added a digital tuner that enables it to receive actual television signals, and even hooked up the original channel selector knob using an Arduino to change channels!
