EEZ Bench Box 3 Brings Modular Case for T&M Programmable Power DC Sources
The BB3 bridges the gap between DIY hobbyist tools and professional benchtop equipment.
Croatia-based Envox Experimental Zone has designed a new modular version of the EEZ DIB (DIY Instrument Bus) test and measurement system, which was inspired by the EEZ H24005 programmable bench power supply.
Under the hood, the Bench Box 3 packs numerous features and specs, which include an STM32F7 Arm Cortex-M7 MCU, full-range autoswitch AC input (115/230 VAC), front panel AC power switch, 4.3-inch TFT touchscreen display (480 x 272), and a front panel bootloader switch for the main MCU (firmware upload via USB DFU). It is also equipped with an incremental encoder and user-defined switch, USB 2.0 OTG, 10/100 Ethernet port, and four power relays for coupling various power outputs.
The Bench Box 3 provides dedicated full-duplex SPI and dedicated bootloader control for each module (firmware upload via UART, SPI, or I²C), a speed-controllable low-noise 80mm cooling fan, and can be remotely operated by 300+ SCPI commands using the company’s EEZ Studio software suite or similar SCPI controllers.
The Bench Box 3 is now on Crowd Supply and backers can configure their model to their preferences — bare PCB options, a custom metal enclosure, and a choice of several core modules and power modules are available.
