While harnessing actual lightning bolts is still fiction for the most part, MissBoof made the next best thing with her incredible Thor cosplay outfit. It features a very well made suit of armor, helmet, shield, and cape — each of which are enhanced with its own lighting effects inspired by the fight scene with the Hulk in Thor Ragnarok.

The most impressive part of this display is the helmet, featuring a set of blacklight LEDs activated by an Adafruit GEMMA and a relay to trigger its 9V battery power supply. When turned on, either through the program that fires it to simulate lightning or via the bypass button, the blacklights shine down upon MissBoof’s face, invisible except for the special contacts she wears with it that cause her eyes to glow when this happens. This gives her eyes the effect of shining to foreshadow the apparent impending lightning bolts.

Her body armor and shield feature randomly blinking EL wire for a complimentary glowing/sparkling effect, and the costume’s shield conveniently includes a compartment for snacks — as well as her wallet and cellphone. Presumably this would be used if she needed to call in the other Avengers for help. Finally, the cape includes motion sensor lights, allowing it to blink on and off when walking around.
