Mike Holden has been working on autonomous boats for the past few years, and after helping students develop a successful catamaran at Cal Maritime, he designed the N3m0 to be smaller, and even 3D-printable, but still carry the same type of ocenographic measurement technology.

Currently, the boat’s payload is controlled via an ESP8266-based computer with a temperature sensor measure, and runs a web server that allows its user to review and save data when in range.

N3m0 uses an ArduPilot system for autonomous navigation, and can also be driven manually when needed. Though not designed to be extremely fast, it still has enough power to be a fun R/C vehicle, and should have enough power to fight strong currents as necessary.
