GlimpseCam Is a Video-Enabled Headband Concept

Technology, and specifically smartphones, have brought us so much in terms of being able to see and share the world; unfortunately, they also consume much of our attention that would otherwise be on what’s in front of us. While most people, especially teenagers, would likely see this as the new normal, at least one of them has begun to consider alternatives. As reported here, University of Washington freshman Dylan Rose is working on a video-enabled headband dubbed “GlimpseCam” that will allow people to ditch their phones in favor of a recording device that they wear on their foreheads… and hopefully forget about.

The idea is that events like a concert, where people are apt to view what’s going on at least partially through smartphones, event promoters would give out these headbands. Concertgoers would then strap them on, experience the show, and leave; letting them to experience music without worrying about if they are getting the best shot for their social media feeds. Perhaps these images and/or video could even be produced by concert personnel, creating a sort of mega collaboration.
