You’ve likely seen those Maker projects where acrylic is etched, and light is shined into it. The scene carved inside is then able to “catch” the light and glow. Well, inventor Guido Bonelli has now taken this concept and turned it into a high-quality, 72-LED fixture dubbed “Glowscenes.”

The device, now on Kickstarter, stands at 5.25” tall and uses three panes of acrylic to display a pleasing nature scene. Made out of solid walnut, the design is meant to directly contrast with cheap mass-produced disposable glowing toys, and could even be passed down to future generations.

While Glowscenes at its heart is a unique light, it doubles as a piece of art and home decor perfect for anyone who wants to change the mood of a room or needs a quick visual distraction from their daily stressful life. It can also serve as a night/reading light, a meditation aid, or a conversation starter.
