The brainchild of Rotterdam-based RDM Makerspace, Marvin is an easy-to-use, Arduino-friendly, plug-and-play development platform with LoRa communication.

The board is equipped with an ATmega32U4 (the same core as the Arduino Leonardo), a Microchip RN2483 LoRa module, and is even compatible with Grove Sensors. Marvin boasts a 2.4mm form factor that can fit into the USB port of your laptop or powerbank.

Marvin has already been employed in a wide range of environments throughout the Netherlands with a number of partners and various networks — including Bluecity and the Things Network to measure air quality, Accenture to rapidly prototype their ideas for working sensor devices, the University of Applied Science Rotterdam to monitor water flow in nature reserves, as well as KPN to develop proof-of-concepts that demonstrate the value of different business cases.
