Think about where you live. Perhaps you have enough room, or like many of us renting, you wish that your abode was a little bigger. This can certainly be a legitimate want, however, what is likely really lacking is space for different activities that are rarely used at the same time.

In order to take full advantage of your existing apartment, this piece of robotic furniture from MIT Media Lab spinoff Ori Systems is able to rearrange itself automatically, even concealing a full or queen-sized bed when not in use.

This means that an area used for sleeping during the night can be transformed into a sitting area, space for entertaining friends, or somewhere to do yoga or a few push-ups. Conveniently, the modular system can be controlled using a small pad attached to the furniture, a companion mobile app, or via Alexa voice commands.

Unfortunately, the Transformers-like units are currently only available to property developers in select cities throughout the U.S. and Canada, with a price tag of around $10,000. But you can stay up-to-date with the team on their website, and see a demo of the origami-inspired furniture system below.
