Electronut Labs has designed an all-in-one ePaper unit, powered by the Nordic’s nRF52840 wireless SoC. This chip allows communication using several wireless protocols, including BLE, and thus via smartphone with an Android app found here. In its default form, users can connect to transfer images or on-screen notes/sketches — “Hello Papyr” for instance — to the device’s 1.54” 200 x 200 red/black/white display.
This functionality makes it ideal for use as a sort of ePaper sticky note, but for those willing to dig a little deeper, much more functionality can be unlocked. GPIO pins can be added using a 2.54mm header, and a programming header is provided for software updates and mods. There’s also an RGB LED and push button, along with a USB/battery power switch.
Depending on what you intend to do with the device, the board itself will be available for $39, a user kit will run $48. A full dev kit including a pogo pin programmer and SWD debugger is planned at $62 as well.
