Play a Video on Freely Arranged Screens Using info-beamer and Raspberry Pi

The Raspberry Pi has been used to power all kinds of devices, from simple desktops to robots, but with the info-beamer system seen on Reddit, several can be used together in an incredible multi-screen display.

Though you may be thinking that “dual monitors” are no big deal, this is something altogether different. It allows multiple screens in different sizes, and even arranged at various angles to each other, to be coordinated into one synchronized mega-display.

Control of the system is handled via a tandem website, where you can virtually arrange content to match up with your real world configuration. Though video walls like the one below are impressive, the system is fully programmable in Lua, and can also be setup as a custom graphics or info display as needed.

So still wondering how this all works? Lucky for us, creator Florian Wesch returned to Reddit to share a two-minute clip walking through the configuration process.

As you can see, every monitor is equipped with a Raspberry Pi running info-beamer and assigned its own section of a video, which in this case is a movie trailer. After opening up its web-based drag-and-drop interface and uploading a photo to the site, info-beamer takes care of the rest automatically. The preview then begins to play across the video wall moments later.
