Though the Snapmaker bills itself as “The All-Metal 3D Printer,” some clarification is needed in that it doesn’t actually print metal; instead the major parts are metallic. Though disappointing on the surface, at a Kickstarter price of $299, it looks like a very interesting device, and something that would look at home in a high-tech industrial environment.

As a “bonus,” not only does it 3D print, it can also act as a laser engraver and CNC router. The key to these capabilities is a metallic gantry slide setup, and a system of interchangeable heads that can accommodate printing and engraving modules as well as the 3D print extruder.

The add-on 500mW laser module can work with wood, bamboo, leather, plastic, fabric, and paper, while its CNC attachment can carve through wood, acrylic, and PCB at spindle speeds of 2,000–7,000 RPM.

Last but not least, the all-in-one machine is equipped with a 3.2" color touchscreen that enables you to check and control various settings, such as homing and loading the filament.

Assembly can be completed in an impressive 10 minutes, meaning you can start making stuff without delay!
