The Switcher — as it’s described in creator Hristo Borisov’s writeup — is “a Wi-Fi, open-source power switch and socket.” It uses the popular ESP8266 module along with an iOS app or browser-based web interface to wirelessly control everything from your lights to other household appliances.

Each unit has a base and a European-style electrical socket which can be swapped out as needed.

The device is modular: it has one base containing the actual device and several add-on modules adding different capabilities… a very cool feature is that you can change wall switches on the fly. So if you are bored with the current color, you can change it with different one instantly. You can design and print your own which is not necessary to be a square one!

As mentioned, this device is open-source and the 3D models are linked on Borisov’s page along with the source code he used. This means that, in theory, you could take his designs and adapt it to work with an upper North American standard if that fits in better with your lifestyle!
