The Button Factory Arcade Switch Tester

If you’re dedicated enough to old-school gaming, you might make a MAME enclosure. Likely you would buy off-the-shelf buttons and use them for Street Figher,NBA Jam, or whatever other game you enjoy the most. Many people would assume that if a button is the right size and meant for, you know, switching, one would be as good as the other.

Not Mike Sannikov, however, who created a test fixture now known as the “Button Factory” that plays sound file whenever a button is pressed. Perhaps it should be expected from someone dedicated enough to build one, but this fixture is incredibly well-made, perhaps even over-engineered.

The 16-channel WAV sampler/mixer is made out of CNC-cut wood and has a carbon fiber back cover, which itself is covered in suede. You can see photos of the project in the link above, or in the video below!
