The Orange Pi Zero2 Is an Allwinner H6-Based SBC

Shenzhen Xunlong has had a busy month with the recent release of the Orange Pi Zero LTS just a few weeks ago, and now another SBC set to launch in the Zero line, with the Orange Pi Zero2 — a successor to the Zero, only slightly larger, and more powerful. The board is also outfitted with additional specs over its predecessors, including the addition of USB 3.0, and HDMI 2.0.

Under the hood, the Orange Pi Zero2 is based on an Allwinner H6 SoC with a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU, Mali-T720 GPU, 512Mb of LPDD3 RAM, 4Gb of eMMC Flash, and up to 32Gb of storage via micro SD card. The board packs an HDMI 2.0 port (video output), a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, and a USB 2.0 OTG port. Connectivity features include 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 4.2 (via AP6212A module), and 10/100 Ethernet. The board is outfitted with a built-in microphone, has a 26-pin header, 3-pin UART header, power/status LEDs, IR receiver, and power key as well.

On the software end, the Orange Pi is reported to be able to take advantage of Android7.0, Ubuntu, Debian, and possibly Armbian. It should be noted that the information on the Orange Pi Zero2 comes from CNX Software, and not direct from Shenzhen Xulong, as official details has yet to be released. That said, pricing and availability are unknown, but there’s a good chance the board will follow suit of the H6-equipped Orange Pi One Plus, which retails for $20.
