Money is an interesting concept. Having transitioned from precious metals to pieces of paper, this medium of exchange is now mostly electronic. In order to help kids understand and interact with this world, Stuart Tayler created a connected piggy bank.

The aptly nammed “Pig eBank” uses a Particle Photon along with an accelerometer and MP3 module to audibly tell someone how much money is in his or her Monzo account, which is basically a prepaid Mastercard.

Besides a solid internal design, this intelligent device certainly looks like something that would appeal to kids. It has a laser-cut body and includes ears that can flip up as a deposit notification.

If a child wants to check how much money is in the bank, he simply shakes it to interact with it via the accelerometer.
