This Massive Hulkbuster Mech Suit Is a Marvel of Large Scale Engineering

Colin Furze is a YouTuber known for his immensely impressive mechanical engineering projects, which stand out because of their huge scales. For instance, he built an astonishing full size Star Wars Tie Fighter in partnership with eBay. But, this Hulkbuster mech suit that was built entirely from parts sourced on eBay is probably the most extraordinary of his projects.

In the Marvel universe, the Hulkbuster was a gigantic mech suit designed by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner specifically to restrain the Hulk. The Hulkbuster is easily one of the coolest Iron Man suits, and Furze’s replica is as faithful to the concept as we can imagine. At 3.2 meters (10.5 feet) tall, it’s a juggernaut, and something few people would have had the skill or resources to build — much less the perseverance.

Movement is powered by hydraulics, which is practically a necessity at this size. The hydraulic pumps appear to be turned by small on-board electric motors. It can be controlled either from within the suit, or with an external controller made by James Bruton. The Hulkbuster can shuffle around, rotate at the hips, grab objects, shoot flames, and even shoot out its fist for a Hulk punch.

The sheer size of this Hulkbuster mech suit makes it one of the most fantastic projects we’ve seen. Furze doesn’t have figures on the exact weight, but it’s almost certainly more than a ton. It’s also pretty amazing that such a complex project could be constructed using just parts available on eBay.
