We’ve seen plenty of robotic arms in the past, however none may be as adorable as Line-us. Measuring only 3.3” x 3.8” x 1” in size, this little drawing arm mimics your motion with a pen on paper and recreates whatever you sketch on screen.

The brainchild of Durrell Bishop and Robert Poll, Line-us is Wi-Fi-enabled and comes with an accompanying app that lets you doodle, save, and share drawings with friends, family or the community. The app has also been designed with several simple tools that allow anyone to play with Line-us. You can trace directly from a camera or your photos, erase, mirror and enlarge anything you want.

It’s not a plotter nor a printer, it’s a draw-er, which gives Line-us its own style and unique character. The magic bit is that Line-us draws in exactly the same order you did.

Line-us works on iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and Android smartphones, as well as Mac and PC laptops. You can use your fingers, a stylus, a Wacom tablet, or an Apple Pencil. But that’s not all, it even connects to Scratch, Arduino, Python and Processing, or via a TCP socket.

What’s nice is that it’s super small and portable. Just hook up to a USB battery or power supply, and you’re good to go. Tether it to your smartphone and use it in a park, or link it to your home’s Wi-Fi network and set it up to follow friends directly, all with just the press of a button.

Sound like a cute drawing robot arm for you? Head over to Bishop and Poll’s Kickstarter campaign here. Line-us will be available for about $86 with an exclusive $61 to super early backers.
