The Raspberry Pi, available for than $40, has brought single-board computing to the masses like never before. On the other hand, if you want it to act like a proper PC, with a power supply, on/off button, SSD interface and an actual case, you’ll need to cobble a few other accessories together.

Perhaps this is part of the fun, but if you’d prefer a really professional-looking build without the fuss, then the Pi Desktop from element14 is worth a look.

That’s because this new kit can transform your Raspberry Pi into a full Linux-based computer with all the functionaltiy you’d expect from a standard PC. It includes the mSATA interface that you’ll need to run an SSD with your system, as well as an intelligent power controller, real-time clock, heat sink, and USB adapter (Micro-Type A).

For those in North America, the Pi Desktop will be available from Farnell element14 and its resellers beginning June 5th. Until then, you can check out its page here.
